A tow truck worker was shot while trying to help the driver of a stranded vehicle in Cleveland Thursday evening.

According Cleveland police, the tow truck driver was driving along Train Avenue toward West 25th Street when he came across a white Chevy Malibu pulled over with the hood up. The man stopped to help the driver, who was standing outside the vehicle.

Police say the suspect was on the passenger side of the Malibu. He exited the car and pulled out a gun, demanding the tow truck driver's property. When the driver refused, he fired his gun. The victim was shot at twice, one bullet striking the cell phone in his hand and the other hitting him in the shoulder.

The tow truck driver drove back to his home on West 50th Street. He was then taken to MetroHealth Medical Center by EMS.

No arrests have been made in the shooting, and detectives continue to investigate.
