ASHLAND COUNTY, Ohio — The Humane Society of Ashland County, with the assistance of the Ashland County Sheriff’s Department, seized 53 cats and 10 dogs from a single property in Ashland County.
Since Friday, deputies and animal caretakers have visited a home several times in north Ashland where dozens of cats were found hiding in the house.
All the animals seized from the home were examined by a local veterinarian. The humane society will care for the animals and place them for adoption once their conditions improve and they have received medical attention and been spayed and neutered.
The Barker Shop, located at 1260 E. Main St. in Ashland, will serve as a drop-off location for food and other items. The following items are needed:
- Purina Cat Chow
- Purina Kitten Chow
- Scoopable cat litter, adult cat litter pans
- Lams large breed dog food
- Monetary donations for flea treatments for cats and dogs
Staff from the humane society didn't release further information on what prompted officials to remove the animals from the home.
