LAKEWOOD, Ohio — A Lakewood family caused heads to turn when it made the best of a snowy situation over the weekend.

Mother Amy Onyak and daughter Ellie have been participating in sled dog racing for years. So when they woke up to a white Christmas, they decided to make the best of it by bringing out their dogs for a ride on the streets of Lakewood.

"All of our neighbors were out trying to shovel themselves out, and they were just laughing because they know that we do it," Amy said.

The family usually goes up to Michigan for races, but they can’t do that this year because of COVID-19, so when winter weather dumped several inches of snow near their home, they knew it was time to get outside.

"It was a magical surprise, to wake and see all this awesome snow and just be able to have fun outside, especially with everything that's going on now, we're just trying to make the best of it," Amy said.
