CLEVELAND — A 16-year-old boy who was killed in a crash on Cleveland’s West Side on Wednesday morning was allegedly driving a stolen car, police said.

In an update from Cleveland police, the 16-year-old driver, identified as Isiah Grimmett by the medical examiner's office, was driving a stolen 2001 Chevy Trailblazer west on Guthrie Avenue at a high rate of speed.

Police said the front passenger inside the vehicle was also a juvenile.

Grimmett failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of Guthrie Avenue and West 73rd Street, which caused him to hit a Lexus RX driven by a 56-year-old man, police said.

The Trailblazer then drove through a fence in the 7300 block of Madison Avenue, hitting a metal shed, which caused the vehicle to flip over, partially ejecting Grimmett, police said.

Grimmett was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS. The other juvenile passenger has minor injuries and refused treatment on the scene.

The 57-year-old man was taken to the hospital where he was treated for his injuries.
