CLEVELAND — If you're driving around East 55th Street and Broadway, you should avoid the area.

Authorities responded to a sewer break in the northbound lanes of East 55th Street, just north of Broadway Avenue on Tuesday morning.

The Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District is not sure what caused the leak, but say it happened after a force main that pumps sludge from Bratenhal to Cuyahoga Heights lost pressure.

News 5's overnight news tracker was at the scene when sewage was spraying up from the street along the curb, causing a flooded sewage mess.

Where the sewage leak started is in the same area that is closed off for filming of a movie in Cleveland's Slavic Village neighborhood.

The film, currently known as the "Untitled Fred Hamilton Project,” is based on true events about Fred Hampton, the outspoken leader of the Chicago Black Panther Party and his formation of the Rainbow Coalition in the late 60s.
