A staff member for the Cleveland Heights-University Heights City School District has been diagnosed with bacterial meningitis.
According to Scott Wortman, supervisor of communications for the district, the staff member works at Heights Middle School.
The condition of the staff member is not being released but, at this time, Wortman said the case is not fatal.
The case was contracted outside of the school, as students and staff have been on break since Dec. 21.
The district will take precautionary measures to have the entire building cleaned before classes resume on Jan. 8.
Heights Middle School is a combination of Frank L Wiley Middle School and Roxboro Middle School — which have been combined while Roxboro's building undergoes a renovation.
