OLMSTED TOWNSHIP, Ohio — The Olmsted Township Fire Department shared pictures from two recent fires and reminded residents of the importance of cleaning out exhaust fans.
The fire department has responded to two separate fires in recent months, both involving bathroom exhaust fans that caught fire, authorities said.
In order to avoid the same situation, Olmsted Township fire recommends taking the following steps:
- Take the time to clean exhaust fans
- Turn exhaust fans off when you are done with them—do not leave them running as they can overheat
- Make sure to have operational smoke alarms in your home
- Have a home escape plan which includes two ways out of each room
