A 17-year-old was arrested in connection with an alleged shooting in Cleveland that left two hurt Saturday night.

According to police, officers responded to the area of East 160th Street and Waterloo Road for a report of shots fired at around 11:30 p.m.

As police checked the area, they heard multiple shots fired near a large crowd at the 15800 block of Waterloo Road.

When officers arrived to the area of the gunshots, they saw a man run from the crowd.

“He’s the shooter, he has a gun,” members of the crowd told police while the suspect ran away.

Officers chased the suspect, who police said attempted to throw a gun onto a roof during the pursuit.

Police ultimately caught the 17-year-old male suspect, of Maple Heights, and took him into custody.

Authorities found a 40-caliber Ruger handgun on scene.

Two 17-year-old victims told police they had left a party at a home in that area when shots were fired while people were in a crowded lot.

The male victim, who suffered a gunshot wound to his knee, told police he tried to run away when he was shot. He was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The other female victim said a bullet grazed her finger. She was treated at the scene by EMS.

The suspect was taken to the Cuyahoga County Juvenile Detention Center.
