WILLOWICK, Ohio — The 18-year-old who admitted to hitting two children getting off their Willowick school bus in May is appearing in court Thursday.

Daila La’Shay Wilson, of Euclid, is charged with failing to stop after an accident, passing a stopped school bus, reckless operation and driving left of center lane, according to court records.

Wilson left the scene of the accident after hitting the two children but eventually turned herself into police.

"She thought the kids were done crossing, and a couple other kids appeared out of nowhere," said Chief Brian Turner. "She realized she hit them; she basically panicked, got scared, and she decided to take off."

Wilson has no driving record and no criminal history, officials said.

Wilson originally pleaded not guilty to the charges, but a court docket shows a change of plea.

The hearing is expected to begin at 9:30 a.m.
