Another bird was reported stolen from a pet shop in Mentor after a similar type of bird was stolen from a pet store in Willoughby.

The manager of Pet Supplies Plus on Mentor Avenue told police a green cheek conure fancy worth $399.98 was stolen January 2. The bird is green with a red patch on its belly.

The manager said the bird was kept in a locked cage, but someone was able to unlock it and take the bird. She says three men were in the store around the time the bird went missing and never bought anything. She told police one of the men was between 40 and 50 years old, and the other two appeared to be in their early 20s. The store does not have surveillance cameras.

Four days later, a pineapple green-cheek conure, was also stolen from Pet Paradise in Willoughby. Because this bird is a baby, it needs special care and is in danger of dying.

Police say in that case, three men distracted the clerk, allowing a fourth person to steal it. Three of the suspects are in their 20s and the fourth is older.
