For more than an hour on Sunday morning, volunteers with the Sea of Blue Lake County Chapter tied blue ribbons to the trees and poles surrounding the department.
"It's just devastating, yet again another senseless tragedy," president of the Sea of Blue Lake County Chapter, Terri Pekarcik. "I just feel so bad for everyone at the department and the family."
Pekarcik said the group is already planning to hold a t-shirt fundraiser for the family of the officer who died. All of the money raised will be donated to the family for any expenses they may be facing.
"I think it's a great way to support the family because they're going to be going through a lot," Pekarcik said.
As of Sunday evening, the t-shirt layout is still being designed by the group. They plan to release more information about the fundraiser on Monday, June 25.
