MEDINA, Ohio — On Thursday, the Ohio State Highway Patrol determined the claim that a truck driver was stabbed and robbed along the interstate was fabricated after all.

At the hospital, the truck driver eventually withdrew his previous claims about being assaulted by two people.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating after a semi-truck driver was stabbed on the highway Wednesday night.

The incident happened on I-76 near Akron Road in Medina.

Troopers said the driver was stabbed on the highway, but it is unknown how the suspects reached him.

The driver was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Troopers said they are searching for two people that fled the scene in a dark-colored pickup truck.

It’s unknown if the driver knew the suspects or what the motive was for the stabbing.
