With 100% of precincts reporting, the renewal passed 70% to 30%. The additional levy passed more narrowly, but still by a wide margin: 58% to 42%.
Residents in the Field Local School District in Portage County had not approved a request for new money in 28 years.
The 11.75-mill additional levy will result in an extra $411 for the owner of a $100,000 home.

Jason Scherer, the president of the teacher’s union, had said both measures would need to pass to avoid drastic layoffs.
The layoffs would have amounted to "33 positions, 24 teachers, which is about 20 percent of the staff," Scherer said.
A levy failure would have also eliminated art, music, physical education and technology at the grade school level.
