WINDHAM, Ohio — On Tuesday night at a special meeting, the Windham Board of Education accepted the resignation of the superintendent, who is facing a flew of charges after she allegedly had sex with one student and attempted to have sexual relations with a second student.
Charges against Laura Amero stem from when she allegedly had sex with a high school boy in 2017 when he was 16, the Portage County Common Pleas Court indictment states. She is also accused of attempting to have sex with a boy who was 16 and 17 between 2015 and 2017.
Amero, 35, is charged with two felony counts of sexual battery in connection to one of the victims, two felony counts of attempted sexual battery in connection to the second victim and two misdemeanor counts of intimidation of a crime victim or witness, the indictment states.
According to the Record-Courier, she was principal of the junior/senior high school during the times the alleged sexual battery happened.
Windham Board of Education President Darryl McGuire told the Record-Courier that he believes police brought the matter to the school district's attention.
