Missing Mansfield man found in vacant Dayton home was shot to death, coroner says

DAYTON, Ohio — The Montgomery County Coroner's Office has released the cause of death for the missing Mansfield man who was found in a vacant home in Dayton on Friday.

The body found inside the vacant home was identified as missing Mansfield resident Todd Burkhart.

The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office, located in Dayton, said Burkhart died from multiple gunshot wounds. His death has been ruled a homicide.

Burkhart was found in a vacant home at 900 Stewart Street in Dayton on Nov. 22.

His girlfriend, Kyla Hayton, 20, was reported missing on Nov. 18, and according to her family, was last heard from on Nov. 16, police stated in a news release.

Inside the vacant home where Burkart's body was found, authorities located items from Hayton and Burkart.

The whereabouts of Hayton is still unknown at this time. Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Dayton police at 937-333-COPS.
