MANSFIELD, Ohio — A pilot and a teen passenger walked away unhurt from a plane crash Thursday night in Mansfield, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

State troopers from the Mansfield Post responded Thursday at around 7:58 p.m. near Huntsman and Algire roads.

The crash happened after a 36-year-old pilot lost power while flying his 1977 Lycoming fixed-wing single-engine airplane.

The pilot was able to maneuver the plane into a cornfield where he then slid to a stop on the ground. A 16-year-old female passenger was also in the plane. Both the pilot and the passenger were unhurt in the crash.

The FAA was notified and will complete an investigation into the cause of the crash.
