3 people killed in motorcycle crashes in Summit County over the weekend

SUMMIT COUNTY, Ohio — Over the weekend, three people were killed in motorcycle crashes in Summit County, according to a release from the county medical examiner.

The first crash happened on Sunday at around 4:20 p.m. in Akron. A 56-year-old man, later identified as Michael Hillis, was operating a motorcycle in the southbound lanes of George Washington Boulevard at a high rate of speed when he lost control and went off the roadway. Hillis and 55-year-old Diana Dixon, who was a passenger on the motorcycle, were both ejected.

Hillis was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:55 p.m. Dixon was taken to Akron City Hospital, where she later died from her injuries at 5:46 p.m.

At around the same time in Bath Township, state troopers responded to a crash at 4:25 p.m. on Medina Line Road.

The crash happened at around 4:25 p.m. on Medina Line Road near Remsen Road when Timothy D. Workman, 48, of Strongsville, who was operating a 2015 Harley Davidson motorcycle, failed to make a curve to the right and traveled off the left side of the road.

The motorcycle overturned and threw Workman off of it and into a roadside traffic sign. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
