The FBI is now involved in the investigation around Discovery Tours, the educational tour company that recently canceled field trips for schools across Northeast Ohio.
Discovery Tours, based in Mayfield Village, coordinated trips for schools to popular destinations like Washington D.C. and Chicago. Tours were canceled in the beginning of May without explanation. The company ceased operations on May 7 and filed for federal bankruptcy protection.
Investigators with the Summit County Prosecutor's Office looked into the company's records and found dozens of canceled trips for school districts in 20 Ohio counties. The U.S. Attorney's Office also determined several out-of-state schools had trips canceled. In addition, thousands of complaints were filed with the Attorney General's office against the company.
