Update: The Amber Alert has been canceled and the child has been returned to his custodial parent.

The East Cleveland Police Department previously issued an Amber Alert for a 5-year-old boy taken from a home.

He was last seen at the home where he resided with a custodial parent and was believed to have been taken by his mother on Friday night around 10 p.m.

Police believe the mother heard about the Amber Alert and dropped the child off to a relative that lives in Cleveland Heights.

Information about the case has been submitted to the prosecutor's office for a ruling but no charges have been filed at this time, police said.
