PAINESVILLE, Ohio — Painesville police are searching for a missing 17-year-old who was reported to have run away from the Emma Caley Receiving Home in April.

On April 30, Dawn Vazquez, 17, walked out of the front door and headed toward the Norfolk Southern Railway.

Staff at the center said her cell phone was confiscated and was known to run away in the past, according to the report. She was last seen wearing black leggings and a black zip up top.

On Thursday, Dawn’s mother told police she had received a phone call from her daughter on a blocked number. Dawn told her mother that she left the Caley home because “she was lonely and didn’t have her family or friends.”

Dawn did not disclose her location to her mother. Police searched the area of her last known address on Hickory Lane.

This missing person case was entered into the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to contact 440-392-5840.
