SAN DIEGO -- San Diego received its first confirmed case of coronavirus Monday, an official familiar with the situation confirmed to Scripps station KGTV. The case marks the 13th confirmed case of coronavirus in the United States.

According to the source, the individual was aboard the first flight from Wuhan, China to Miramar last Wednesday.

The official says the individual is an adult. It’s unclear whether the patient is a man or a woman at this time.

The individual was taken to the UC San Diego Medical Center for treatment and is in isolation. They are in good condition, health officials say.

The first flight carrying 167 people from China landed at Miramar last Wednesday. A second plane carrying an unknown number of people arrived at the base later in the week. </p>

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, all those aboard the flights were quarantined for a mandatory 14-day hold.

A total of nine evacuees were brought to area hospitals for further evaluation last week. Six of those hospitalized have been cleared and are back at MCAS Miramar while test results are pending for two others.

A father and daughter who were in isolation at Rady Children’s Hospital later tested negative for novel coronavirus. The man's father-in-law who stayed in Wuhan, however, passed away from the virus. A GoFundMe has been set up for the family.
