COLUMBUS, Ohio — For the eighth straight week, the applications for unemployment benefits in Ohio have declined, according to the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.

There were 34,553 Ohioans who filed jobless claims for the week ending June 20. Those who remain without a job filed 314,744 fewer continued claims compared to the peak in April.

Over the last 14 weeks, ODJFS received 1,395,184 jobless claims, which is more than the combined total of those who filed during the last three years.

Of the more than 1 million applications, ODJFS says it has processed about 94% claims, with less than 6% still pending.
