COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine has ordered all U.S. and Ohio flags be flown at half-staff at all public buildings and grounds throughout Lucas County, the Ohio Statehouse, the Vern Riffe Center and Rhodes State Office Tower in Columbus for a Toledo police officer killed in the line of duty Monday night.

DeWine said all flags shall remain lowered until sunset on the day of Toledo Officer Brandon Stalker’s funeral.

All other public buildings and grounds throughout the state may fly U.S. and Ohio flags at half-staff at their discretion during the same time period.

Stalker, 24, was shot and killed during a standoff Monday. Police said the shooter barricaded himself inside of a house, and came outside with multiple weapons, and started shooting.

Stalker had been with the department since 2018.
