Ride operators said the ride functioned as intended and stopped with the passengers in place when a "variance of air pressure" was detected, WSYX reported . The passengers were safely lowered back to the ground and the ride underwent maintenance.

Last year one person died and several others were seriously injured when a ride malfunctioned.
