BROADVIEW HEIGHTS, Ohio — Kids are so used to taking pictures these days and they're likely sick of it. So how do you mix it up to help the little ones have fun and also get good shots?
That's where photographer Heather Swaney, owner of Pixure This Photo Studio, and her 'momtography' guide come in.
"I just wanted to kind of give them tools that they could go away using these tools to get better images of their kids," Swaney said.
It's seven pages of tips and tricks for parents to get the best pictures of their kids. You don't need a fancy camera to get great results, a cell phone is just fine.
Here are some examples:
Tip #1: Make it fun. Let your kids scream at the top of their lungs, and then have them turn back to the camera and smile.
Tip #2: Ask them to do something, like dance and sing or play peekaboo
Tip #3: Have them hold something, especially something they love like a stuffed animal or blanket, it will likely make them more comfortable in front of the camera
"It's trial and error, one thing isn't going to work for every single child," Swaney said.
