CLEVELAND — The 11th Congressional District Community Caucus Annual Labor Day Parade and Festival has been postponed due to COVID-19 concerns, according to a news release from Congresswoman Marcia Fudge’s office.
For nearly 50 years, the event has “celebrated community and political empowerment” and is known as the culmination of summer, according to Fudge.
The congresswoman serves as the event's grand marshal. The event has been an annual fixture of Northeast Ohio since 1971.
“Due to COVID-19, we have decided in the best interests of our community, participants and spectators not to have our parade as usual,” said Fudge. “We cannot afford to encourage our community to break social distancing protocols. We hope our community appreciates this decision and we hope to see you next year.”
Fudge said that she hopes to bring the event back “bigger and better” next year.
