COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine and Lt. Gov. Jon Husted will give an update on the state's response to coronavirus pandemic and the return to schools during the scheduled briefing on Tuesday afternoon.
Last week, DeWine said he would mention guidance on sports this week. That announcement and more details surrounding sports could be addressed Tuesday.
The briefing is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. Watch it live in the media player below:
The briefing comes after Ohio accepted an unemployment plan that would give $300 in federal weekly assistance to Ohio unemployment claimants. The plan agreed to late Sunday by DeWine means less money for the unemployed under another option, which would provide $400 a week, with $100 coming from the state.
On Monday, the Ohio Health Department reported 883 new COVID-19 cases. The number of new cases Monday was lower than the rolling 21-day average of daily cases, which is 1,217.
