COLUMBUS, Ohio — New numbers released by the Ohio Department of Health show that Saturday marks the second day in a row where new cases in the state have dropped each day since spiking on Thursday.
On Wednesday, Ohio reported 471 new cases, but that number jumped to 636 on Thursday. In the days that followed, those numbers dropped down to 597 new cases on Friday and 520 new cases on Saturday. Saturday's new case total is lower than the 21-day average of 566 cases, according to ODH.
Saturday’s numbers bring the total number of Ohio COVID-19 cases to 27,474.
There have been 4,870 hospitalizations and 1,610 people have died from the novel coronavirus.
On Friday, Cuyahoga County had the largest number of new cases in state at 150, but that number dropped by more than half down to 67 new cases.
Currently, Cuyahoga County has 3,223 new cases. Counties neighboring Cuyahoga County reported the following numbers Saturday:
- Lorain County – 589 total cases
- Medina County – 212 total cases
- Summit County – 995 total cases
- Geauga County – 220 total cases
- Lake County – 219 total cases
