CUYAHOGA COUNTY, Ohio — The Cuyahoga County Jail says it's seeing a surge in positive coronavirus cases among inmates.
The jail had two COVID-positive inmates on November 5.
The number of infected inmates began increasing the week of November 16.
As of December 1, the jail has 30 inmates who are confirmed or presumed COVID-19 positive.
Inmates are being treated by MetroHealth staff and are provided face masks and PPE throughout the jail, according to officials.
Officials said inmates are medically screened at intake and isolated in dedicated housing for seven days.
If an inmate tests positive, he or she is immediately moved to COVID-19 housing, and inmates who receive two negative COVID tests are moved to the general population.
