COLUMBUS, Ohio — Now that the Ohio Board of Pharmacy has released updated guidance allowing pharmacists to administer COVID-19 tests, the state government is creating a statewide map showing where residents can go to get tested.

The Board of Pharmacy released updated guidance clarifying rules from the Department of Health and Human Services allowing pharmacists to administer tests. Access to these tests is vitally important, Gov. Mike DeWine said during Thursday’s coronavirus briefing.

CVS is among the pharmacies now offering testing at 15 locations in Northeast Ohio offer drive-thru testing, with an appointment arranged in advance.

DeWine said he is working aggressively with the Ohio Pharmacists Association and the state’s pharmacies to make sure these tests are available, as they are an important part of the state’s reopening plan.

To help Ohioans access these tests, a map will be added to the Ohio Department of Health’s coronavirus website that shows locations for COVID-19 testing centers. The map will include not just retail sites, but also community health centers.

DeWine said the map will be added to the state's coronavirus page.

He did not specify when.
