Ohio goes over the 21-day average in new cases, deaths, hospitalizations and ICU admissions

COLUMBUS, Ohio — On Wednesday, the state of Ohio went over the rolling 21-day average in all four major statistical categories -- new cases, deaths, hospitalizations and admissions to the ICU.

The Ohio Department of Health reported 1,320 new COVID-19 cases in the state today, bringing the total number of cases to 86,497.

The number of new cases today is higher than the rolling 21-day average of daily cases, which is 1,314. These numbers include both cases confirmed by a viral test and cases that meet the CDC's definition of probable. There have been 81,896 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date, which account for 95% of total cases.

There have now been 3,382 coronavirus-related deaths across the state, an increase of 38 over the previous day, higher than the 21-day average of 20.

There were 150 new cases reported in Cuyahoga County today.

Cleveland reported 44 new cases, bringing their total to 4,102.

The ODH reported 140 new hospitalizations today, with 22 ICU admissions, both above the 21-day average.

As of today, 61,056 Ohioans are presumed recovered from the disease, according to the ODH.

There were 19,651 tests done on July 26, the latest day this data from the ODH was available. Of those tests, 5.3% were positive, compared to the rolling 7-day average positivity rate, which is 6.2%. Click here for details on where to get a COVID-19 test in your area.

The median age of patients is 42 with the age range for infected patients from younger than 1 year old to 109 years old.
