The State of Ohio topped 60,000 coronavirus cases on Wednesday.
Ohio reported 1,277 new daily cases Wednesday, which is the fourth-highest number of cases that have been reported in the state since the start of the pandemic. The total was also well above the 21-day average, which is 846.
The state reported 21 deaths from the virus on Wednesday, which is three above the 21-day average.
Cuyahoga County reported 229 new cases, bringing their total to 8,277 cases. Wednesday was the second-highest number of COVID-19 cases reported in the county since the start of the pandemic.
Cleveland reported 100 new cases, bringing their total to 2,846.
Hospitalizations and ICU admissions continued an upward trend and were both above the 21-day average. Ohio reported 106 hospitalizations and 26 ICU admissions.
On July 6, 18,065 Ohioans were tested for coronavirus, and 856 tested positive, meaning the positivity rate as of Monday was 5%.
A total of 42,111 Ohioans are presumed recovered from the disease, based on the ODH definition, which tracks cases that have a symptom onset date of over 21 days and the patient is not deceased.
