The Lakewood community raised $25,000 to save The Side Quest bar after it was closed under the stay at home order in Ohio. More here.

The Cleveland Department of Public Health was notified of 31 new positive COVID-19 test results in residents of the city, bringing the total to 931 confirmed cases in Cleveland. There have been a total of 40 fatalities. The new cases include males and females, whose ages range from under 12 years old to in their 100s.

“The fact that we continue to have new coronavirus cases in Cleveland every day illustrates why we must double down on our efforts to slow the spread - from staying home as much as possible to wearing masks in public to maintaining social distancing to washing hands frequently,” said Mayor Frank G. Jackson. “Our hearts, prayers and thoughts continue to go out to all those affected by this pandemic.”

Beginning on May 12, the day retail businesses are permitted to reopen under the state’s order, garage sales, yard sales and other outdoor sales will also be permitted to be held, according to the Ohio Department of Health. More here.

The Ohio Department of Health reported 681 new cases of COVID-19 Saturday, a dip from the 885 newly reported cases on Friday. More here.

Next week, hair salons, barbershops, and day spas will all be able to re-open for business, but tattoo shops are still in limbo, leaving tattoo artists frustrated. Some tattoo shop owners don’t believe they’ve gotten a fair chance to prove they’re safe and ready to open their doors. More here.

Frank Russo, the former Cuyahoga County auditor who was caught in a corruption probe in 2010, was released from federal prison after being deemed susceptible to COVID-19, according to his attorney Roger Synenberg. More here.
