AVON, Ohio — Avon Local Schools announced Wednesday that it has been notified by the Lorain County Public Health Department that teachers will likely receive their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine on Feb. 26.

According to the district, if that date is correct, a second dose will be administered either on March 19 or March 26. The date depends on which vaccine the district receives, but those dates have not been confirmed.

“We want to keep families up-to-date so you can plan accordingly,” the district said.

Whichever date is selected, school officials said that there won’t be classes for students on that particular day.

The district said it hopes to finalize the date by this Friday, and when it does, officials will notify parents and staff.

“Thank you for your patience and understanding,” the district said.
