CLEVELAND — A man wanted for killing a woman and injuring her daughter by shooting into an apartment building in Cleveland last year was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force Thursday morning.

Andrew Barker, 41, is charged with aggravated murder, according to Cleveland Municipal Court records.

The shooting happened on March 26, 2019 after several residents complained that their downstairs neighbors were playing music too loudly at an apartment near Lake Avenue and West 83rd Street, authorities said.

Barker alleged fired shots through a window at an apartment. The woman, Ivette Gonzales-Perez, 34, was struck by a bullet. She was transported to a nearby hospital and succumbed to her injuries on April 7, 2019. Her daughter was also injured in the incident.

Barker was charged with felonious assault and then charged with aggravated murder following the woman’s death, court records state.

According to the U.S. Marshals Service, Barker was on the run for more than a year before his address was tracked down to a home on Cleveland’s East Side. Authorities located him Thursday morning outside a retail store and he was taken into custody without incident.

“This fugitive thought he could hide in plain sight from the police, but our investigators didn’t give up on finding him. He will now have to answer for the death of a young woman and the severe injuries to her daughter,” U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott said.
