Sunday's triathlon changed to duathlon due to strong Lake Erie currents

Strong currents in Lake Erie have caused triathlon officials to change the course of the USA Triathlon Age Group National Championships sprint-distance race on Sunday.

The triathlon (swim-bike-run) was changed to a duathlon (run-bike-run), according to race officials. The duathlon will consist of a 2.72-kilometer run, 20-kilometer bike ride and another 2.72-kilometer run.

The race was also delayed 30 minutes and began at 7:30 a.m.
