1 PM: City of Cleveland holds briefing to discuss COVID-19 vaccine

CLEVELAND — On Tuesday, City of Cleveland officials and Mayor Frank Jackson will hold a virtual news conference to discuss the COVID-19 vaccine and related updates to the city’s response to the pandemic.

The city announced Monday in its nightly coronavirus update news release that beginning Jan. 21, it will begin to provide the second dose of the vaccine to those who received their first dose 28 days ago.

The city said next week it will begin to vaccinate individuals that reside and work in congregate living facilities.

Between Dec. 24 and Dec. 29, a total of 6,000 vaccines were administered to Phase 1A individuals and essential workers in Cleveland, including:

  • 115 - EMS
  • 280 – Fire
  • 26 – Airport Fire Dept.
  • 18 – Cleveland Police Department Officers
  • 150 – Target Phase 1 Population (Non-City of Cleveland Staff)
