WATCH: Ohio Department of Health gives update on COVID-19 in Ohio

COLUMBUS, Ohio — At 11 a.m. Thursday, Ohio Department of Health Chief Medical Officer Dr. Bruce Vanderhoff held a news conference on COVID-19 with Dr. Steven Burdette, Chief of Infectious Disease at Wright State University.

On Wednesday, ODH reported 3,393 daily COVID-19 cases in Ohio, over double the 21-day average and the highest single-day increase of cases since February 3, 2021.

Gov. Mike DeWine promoted Vanderhoff to chief medical officer of the Ohio Department of Health on Wednesday. The promotion requires confirmation by the Ohio Senate, which is expected to take place on Monday.
