Two local bars have been cited for violating state health orders aimed at preventing the spread of coronavirus.
The Ohio Investigative Unit cited the bars on Friday and Saturday, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The first bar, Grand River Manor, in Geneva, was cited for improper conduct—disorderly activity.
"Agents arrived at 8:05 p.m. and witnessed patrons closely congregated and occupying consecutive seats at the bar. Additional patrons stood behind others to order. Little to no social distancing measures or physical barriers were in place. Most of the staff and patrons were not wearing facial coverings," the OIU said.
The other location, Gen's 176 Bar and Grill, in Parma, was also cited for improper conduct—disorderly activity. When OIU agents went inside the bar around 1 a.m., they "observed patrons closely congregated throughout the bar area. Patrons occupied consecutive seats at the bar, as others stood behind them to order. Patrons were also permitted to stand while consuming alcoholic beverages. Little to no social distancing measures or physical barriers were in place. Most of the patrons and bar staff were not wearing facial coverings," authorities said.
The cases will be sent to the Ohio Liquor Control Commission for review.
