MEDINA COUNTY, Ohio — The State of Ohio released the school districts included in week one of COVID-19 vaccinations.

Only two counties in the News 5 viewing area were included in that list: Medina and Summit. Mahoning and Columbiana counties, also considered to be in Northeast Ohio, were also on the list.

In a letter to parents, Medina City Schools said the vaccine will be administered to staff members across the county on Thursday, Feb. 4.

Medina City Schools and Brunswick City Schools have been selected as host sites. The vaccination site for Medina City Schools' employees will be at Medina High School.

Discount Drug Mart will administer the vaccine to the two sites.

The district said all schools in Medina County will be closed on Feb. 4 so all educators can get vaccinated in a single day.

It is unknown if teachers in other districts will be able to get vaccines.

A total of 91,000 school staff will be able to begin receiving the vaccine. Vaccinations for school staff is scheduled to begin on Feb. 1.
