STARK COUNTY, Ohio — A 58-year-old man who was hospitalized with COVID-19 has died, according to the Stark County Health Department.
The man had tested positive for COVID-19, which he acquired through an unknown source, SCHD said.
SCHD said the man had underlying health conditions.
“On behalf of the entire county, we express our deepest sympathies for the family and friends of the patient who died,” said County Health Commissioner, Kirk Norris. “Our thoughts go out to the Stark County community, as well as all Ohioans, and those across the world battling this illness and the families of everyone affected by this pandemic.”
The department was previously aware of this case and have worked to contact those who came into direct exposure to COVID-19 from this case.
“The close contact will be told to stay at home until released by public health,” said Sherry Smith, Director of Nursing Services for the county department.
