Cleveland Metropolitan School District ends mask requirement

How to incentivize wearing a mask for your child

CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Metropolitan School District is ending its mask requirement.

The district said they came to this decision based on information from the CDC and Cleveland Department of Public Health.

While masks are no longer required, the district is strongly recommending that students and adults wear masks based on low vaccinations rates among children.

"The reality is that, because vaccination rates are so low, many in our community are still at risk of catching the virus, and all of us, vaccinated or unvaccinated, can be carriers. Letting our guard now could easily lead to another surge and more of the suffering that has devastated Cleveland families," CEO Eric Gordon said in a video.
