LORAIN, Ohio — Lorain County Health and Dentistry officials will hold a COVID-19 drive-thru rapid testing event this Sunday in Lorain.

The event will be held on Sunday, Jan. 3, from 8 a.m. to noon. It’s free and open to the public. It will take place at 1205 Broadway Ave.

Anyone who wants a rapid test is asked to remain in their vehicle while a nasal swab is administered through the vehicle’s window.

A doctor's order isn't needed to have a test completed, the agency said. There are also no age restrictions and insurance is not required.

“We expect a large number of people will want a COVID-19 test after the holidays,” said Stephanie Wiersma, LCH&D CEO. "More testing is a good thing. It helps local public health officials understand spread and gives peace of mind to those who get tested, and their families. Our aim is to lessen the spread and keep people safe as much as possible. We hope the community will take advantage of this free testing event.”

Those who test positive for COVID-19 will get a phone call within the hour, health officials said.

Individuals who are unable to make it to the event can call Lorain County Health and Dentistry at 440-240-1655 to schedule a PCR test.
