CLEVELAND — As coronavirus cases spike across Northeast Ohio due to the growing presence of the omicron variant, the Cuyahoga County Jail has reported a spike in cases, according to numbers released by a spokesperson for Cuyahoga County.
On Monday, Dec. 20, 147 incarcerated individuals were currently positive for COVID-19, which is over 10% of the total COVID positive tests for inmates since the beginning of the pandemic, according to data provided by jail officials.
Today there are 1,572 people incarcerated inside the jail.
Based on the numbers released from the county, there are currently 830 individuals in exposure isolation.
To date, a total of 1,049 COVID-19 vaccinations have been administered by MetroHealth to 475 inmates at the jail.
