LORAIN COUNTY, Ohio — Lorain County Health and Dentistry officials will hold a COVID-19 drive-thru rapid testing event this Saturday in Lorain.

The event will be held on Saturday, Jan. 9, from 8 a.m. to noon. It’s free and open to the public. It will take place at 1205 Broadway Ave.

Anyone who wants a rapid test is asked to remain in their vehicle while a nasal swab is administered through the vehicle’s window.

A doctor's order isn't needed to have a test completed, the agency said. There are also no age restrictions and insurance is not required.

“Lorain County Health & Dentistry held a community-wide COVID-19 Rapid Test event on January 3. Our team of nurses and staff administered over 500 antigen tests in about 4 hours, and we had more than 100 positive results - a high positivity rate. We urged those with positive results to obtain a diagnostic PCR quickly and to quarantine until they receive the results. In this way, together we can help to slow the spread of the virus in our community,” said Stephanie Wiersma, LCH&D President & CEO.
