Another middle school in the district will be ordering some students to quarantine after a student tested positive for coronavirus.

All 8th-grade students at Willowick Middle School were ordered to quarantine until Oct. 16, according to a letter sent to parents by Willoughby-Eastlake City Schools.

The Lake County General Health District determined all 8th-grade students will be quarantined from classes and all extracurricular activities from Oct. 6 through Oct. 16.

All students will be able to return to school and their activities on Oct. 19 as long as they don’t exhibit symptoms and are not taking fever-reducing medications.

All quarantined students will attend classes virtually.

The district is asking parents to take the following steps:
• As a precaution, consider postponing plans for family visits and social activities
• Continue to check for COVID-19 symptoms daily: fever or chills, new uncontrolled cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, new onset of severe headache, especially with fever.
• If anyone in your household develops symptoms or tests positive for COVID-19, they should immediately isolate and call your county health department and your medical provider.
