Gov. Mike DeWine did not hold his twice-weekly COVID-19 news conference Tuesday afternoon. Instead, he made a statewide address on Wednesday evening to discuss the virus’s impact on Ohio.

Monday, the state reported more than 4,700 new COVID-19 cases, which brought the statewide total to 254,974 cases. More than 5,500 people have died from coronavirus-related deaths in Ohio.

"What we are seeing now as cases surge is an increasing demand on our staff, and every county in the state is feeling the brunt of rising COVID-19 hospitalizations," Gov. Mike DeWine said during a press conference on Monday.
