COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services reported Ohioans filed 21,868 jobless claims for the week ending on Nov. 7, which was 252,347 fewer than the peak earlier this year.
Last week's number was a slight increase from the 21,263 initial jobless claims filed the week before.
Over the last 34 weeks, the total number of initial jobless claims filed in Ohio is 1,850,676.
Ohioans filed 260,855 continued jobless claims last week, which was 515,447 fewer than the peak earlier this year. This total includes both traditional unemployment claims and claims for extended benefits.
Since the pandemic started, ODJFS has distributed more than $7.2 billion in unemployment compensation payments to more than 839,000 Ohioans. Of the more than 1 million applications received, more than 95% have been processed, with less than 5% pending.
