Ohio reports 7,592 new COVID-19 cases, 13 new coronavirus-related deaths

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio Department of Health reported 7,592 new COVID-19 cases in the state today, bringing the total number of cases to 475,024.

The number of new cases today is lower than the rolling 21-day average of daily cases, which is 8,425. These numbers include both cases confirmed by a viral test and cases that meet the CDC's definition of probable. There have been 449,967 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date, which account for 95% of total cases.

There were 921 new cases reported in Cuyahoga County today. The City of Cleveland reported 403 new cases, bringing the total in the city to 13,308.

There have now been 6,959 coronavirus-related deaths across the state; 13 new deaths were reported today, lower than the 21-day average of 59.

The ODH reported 274 new hospitalizations today, with 33 ICU admissions. There are currently 1,215 COVID-19 patients in Ohio's hospitals, and 725 COVID-19 patients in the ICU.

Non-COVID patients are currently occupying 53% of the state's hospital beds, according to ODH. COVID-positive patients account for 19%, leaving 29% of beds currently available. COVID patients make up 25% of the state's ICU beds, non-COVID patients are occupying 53% of ICU beds, and 22% of ICU beds are currently open.

As of today, 321,505 Ohioans are presumed recovered from the disease, according to the ODH.

There were 58,445 tests done on Dec. 4, the latest day this data from the ODH was available. Of those tests, 15.5% were positive, compared to the rolling 7-day average positivity rate, which is 15.8%. Click here for details on where to get a COVID-19 test in your area.

The median age of patients is 42 with the age range for infected patients from younger than 1 year old to 109 years old.
