PAINESVILLE, Ohio — Painesville City Local Schools announced Saturday that the district plans to have students who were in-person learners return to physical classrooms next week.

“At last night’s board meeting, the board authorized the superintendent to revise the district’s COVID school operations plan and to permit schools to remain open under a “Red” county risk designation if conditions are safe to do so,” the district said on its Facebook page. “Under the advisement of the Lake County General Health District, it is safe for schools to be open at this time.”

The district said it will post required activities and assignments to each student’s Google Classroom. School is set to resume on Tuesday, Oct. 17.

Students who are online learners will continue to have their classes held online.

“We apologize for this disruption and appreciate your patience through this process. We will continue to carefully monitor conditions to ensure that the safety of our students, staff, and families are not compromised,” the district stated.
